The TEFL course was great. The instructors are caring and help you with whatever it is you need. They have a great system for job placement and will put you where is best for you. I made some wonderful friends through the course, and am actually still living in Puerto Vallarta working as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher.

Mexico - Rich in Culture and History

Mexico is one of the largest economies in the world. With jungles, deserts, bustling cities, fiesta’s and world class cuisine, this country is diverse in landscape and culture. As the Tropic of Cancer effectively divides this country into temperate and tropical zones, this creates a mega-diverse country which holds over 200,000 different species. Mexico is home to 10-12% of the worlds biodiversity.

The ‘real’ Mexico is not defined – the further you explore the more you will define for yourself. Mexico is jam packed with culture and history, it’s pre-Hispanic civilisation built some of the world’s great archaeological monuments, the capital city Mexico City is built directly over an entire ancient city. Aztec and Mayan ruins and artefacts are still being discovered to this day and are wide spread.

Puerto Vallarta is surrounded by the radiant blue Bahia de Banderas (Bay of flags) and backed by the evergreen covered jungle mountains, this city is enveloped by stunning natural scenery. This historic city has vast amounts to keep you entertained in the evenings and weekends. The cobblestoned centre is home to the ornate church Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe along with a wide range of restaurants and bars to satisfy all of your culinary needs. In addition to the bustling city centre, there is the renowned beach-side promenade dotted with contemporary sculptures, nightclubs, lounges and bars which comes alive in the evenings.

You Will Be Fully Qualified After TEFL /TESOL Training

This program consists of 4 weeks TEFL / TESOL training, which will be a mixture of daytime study and some evening work and assignments. TEFL / TESOL trainers will make sure you have everything you need to become a confident teacher of English (TEFL / TESOL) in Mexico.

Once qualified, the world is yours and you can use your TEFL / TESOL certificate in other countries - there is no expiry date to the TEFL / TESOL certificate. The TEFL / TESOL certificate is externally accredited and accepted worldwide.

A Time to Make Friends

After gaining skills, making friends in this period is what it is all about. Spending so much time each day around the same people who are in the same situation means friendships solidify quickly. Everyone wants to support each other. It's one of the great benefits of starting your journey teaching abroad in this way.

Finding Work is Easy Through Our TEFL / TESOL Team

During the TEFL / TESOL training period, we give you all the tools, resources and contacts you need to secure a paid teaching job. Most jobs are secured within a few weeks after the course, and sometimes even shorter than that. A great benefit is to have our experienced in-country TEFL / TESOL team at your disposal recommending good places to work, and where to avoid applying for jobs.

In Mexico, teaching jobs can be found in both language centers and schools. In language centers, you will be teaching adults, with some younger classes, depending on the employer. It's also common to travel to corporate locations and teach company staff English, as well as have private students to tutor. Jobs are all year round for language centers.

If you decide to teach in a school, the school year runs from August to June, and you could be teaching primary or secondary students.

Contract lengths are for around 6 months or more. Salaries vary, but are around the equivalent of 700 US dollars per month, and for living cost you would spend about just over half of that each month. For a clearer idea of costs, one of our teachers, Kelly, wrote a Mexico Salary vs. Livings Costs Guide for you.

Eligibility for this Program:

You must be a native English speaker to be eligible for this program. In terms of the job placement services, through our experience we know that you do not need to hold a bachelors degree. Jobs are normally secured within 30 days after the end of the training - and in most cases this is shorter.

Accommodation is Affordable on a Teaching Salary

Accommodation costs during training are around 500 USD for 4 weeks and that is for staying in the housing provided near our training center in Puerto Vallarta.

After training and when you are in your teaching job, accommodation is much cheaper, at around 200 USD for a shared apartment. Doing the course with others helps you to make friends and it's common to share accommodation with those friends afterwards when you start your teaching jobs.
