Madrid TEFL/ TESOL Program Summary
Train in TEFL/ TESOL for 4 weeks in Madrid, before getting a paid teaching job in Spain. This program has become more popular than ever before.
With good salaries and living costs, summer weather, sandy beaches, and the laid back Spanish lifestyle, Madrid is one of our most popular locations! As there are more TEFL/ TESOL jobs than teachers, you can be assured you’ll be in high demand after you’re certified.
There are two options for our Spain TEFL/ TESOL Program. Those that do have an EU passport do not need a working visa. For those that are not from the EU, you can do the program with an additional visa program fee, which includes 36 weeks of Spanish classes – which gives you a visa so that you can live legally for a year in Spain, and apply for permission to work.
TEFL Heaven and their team in Spain, in particular, have a fantastic reputation across the city. They help you put together a specific, tailored CV towards teaching which is very helpful. Within 24 hours of sending out my CV, I've had 6 emails and 4 arranged interviews, so there is certainly no shortage of demand here.

Key Program Details
Spain was once the most powerful nation in Europe and the world’s greatest colonial power. As such the history, heritage and culture are ever present in modern day Spain. The Roman remains, Cathedrals and Museums, along with beautiful coastline, unspoiled beaches and coves, you really get to experience the best of everything!
Bordered by France and Portugal, you will be fully immersed in the Latin culture of Spain. Tapas, siestas, dancing and art are to be found all over the country. If it’s sports you’re into, Real Madrid are on your doorstep and FC Barcelona is only a domestic flight away! Madrid also hosts Warner Brothers Movie World – their equivalent to Disneyland.
Fancy visiting the rest of Europe? Spain has easy access to most main European countries by rail.
This program consists of 4 weeks TEFL/ TESOL training, which will be a mixture of daytime study and some evening work and assignments. TEFL/ TESOL trainers will make sure you have everything you need to become a confident teacher of English (TEFL/ TESOL) in Spain.
Once qualified, the world is yours and you can use your TEFL/ TESOL certificate in other countries - there is no expiry date to the TEFL/ TESOL certificate. The TEFL/ TESOL certificate is externally accredited and accepted worldwide.
For non-EU citizens, we have a visa program which lasts for one year. It consists of the 4 week TEFL/ TESOL training course as above, and 36 weeks of Spanish and cultural classes which run part time (20 hours per week). With this student visa you are also allowed to work for 20 hours per week which fits around your study and leisure time perfectly!
After gaining skills, making friends in this period is what it is all about. Spending so much time each day around the same people who are in the same situation means friendships solidify quickly. Everyone wants to support each other. It's one of the great benefits of starting your journey teaching abroad in this way.
During the TEFL/ TESOL training period, we give you all the tools, resources and contacts you need to secure a paid teaching job. Most jobs are secured within a few weeks after the course, and sometimes even shorter than that. A great benefit is to have our experienced in-country TEFL/ TESOL team at your disposal recommending good places to work, and where to avoid applying for jobs.
In Spain, most teaching jobs are in language centers, so typically you will be teaching adults, with some younger classes, depending on the employer. It's also common to travel to corporate locations and teach company staff English, as well as have private students to tutor. Jobs are all year round but it's important to note that all language centers are on holiday in August so there is no work at that time.
Contract lengths are for around 12 months or more. Salaries vary, but are around the equivalent of 1300 US dollars per month, of which you can save about 400 US dollars if you budget well. For a clearer idea of costs, one of our teachers, Sasha, wrote a Spain Salary vs. Livings Costs Guide for you.
You need to be a native English speaker to be accepted on to our program. In terms of the job placement services, through our experience we know those who hold a bachelors degree (in any subject) secure jobs within 30 days after the end of the training - and in most cases this is shorter.
Our dedicated partners on the ground in Madrid work closely with spotahome.com to help you find the perfect accommodation in Spain. In fact they do all of the hard work so you don't have to, whilst offering our teachers a 15% discount for their services. Doing your TEFL/ TESOL course with others enables you to make friends and it is very common to share accommodation with those friends when you start your teaching jobs.
The full price of the this program in 2019 is 1300 Euros for EU citizens and 3100 Euros for Non-EU citizens.
This gives you a 4-week long, fully accredited TEFL/ TESOL training certificate in Madrid, meaning you can teach English and get paid anywhere in the world, as well as job assistance from our team in Madrid and worldwide lifetime job seeking assistance from TEFL Heaven. Non-EU citizens also receive 36 weeks of Spanish classes.
This is split into 2 payments for EU citizens and 3 payments for Non-EU citizens. A booking deposit is required to secure your place (after a successful Skype / FaceTime interview), and then for EU citizens, a final payment normally due 30 days before your selected start date.
For Non-EU citizens, two further payments are needed to split up the cost and also because we will start the visa process 3 months before you arrive.
The first installment of 500 Euros (EU citizens) or 800 Euros (Non-EU citizens) is due when you book the program.
A payment of 1000 Euros is due 3 months before the start date for Non-EU citizens only as we start the visa process for you.
The final installment of 800 Euros (EU citizens) or 1300 Euros (Non-EU citizens) is due no less than 30 days before your course start date. You have to pay the first installment in US dollars, so if this is different than your own currency, please see www.xe.com for current exchange rates, which change daily.

I was quite nervous before doing the course but afterwards I was so happy I'd done it because I made a lot of friends and learn a lot. I've had lots of companies approach me and offer me interviews.
