- TEACH ENGLISH IN A COUNTRY THAT OFFERS HIGH SALARIES
Vietnam has grown in popularity over the years as one of the most popular places to teach English – and there are many reasons why!
With high salaries compared to the low cost of living, exotic and tropical weather, beaches and islands to die for, and a growing TEFL industry (teaching English as a foreign language) that means there are more jobs than teachers – more and more people are choosing Vietnam over other locations to start their teaching journey and teaching careers. Our TEFL Heaven Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City TEFL Program consists of full TEFL training before guaranteed paid teaching jobs in Vietnam!
TEFL training is located in the hugely popular and buzzing area of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) and consists of 4 weeks of training. After the training a guaranteed paid teaching job will be yours which could be anywhere in Vietnam. Teaching salaries are between 1000 USD – 2000 USD, depending on the area and the school, with only half of that averaging as living costs for you.
Teaching jobs in Vietnam are between 20 – 30 hrs per week commonly and teaching contracts can be 6 months or more, with many teachers staying for 2 years or more.
You will train in how to teach English with a group of up to 20 like-minded individuals who are starting their TEFL journey with you. It’s easy to make friends when you have a lot in common and lots to talk about! In the training centre there is also an option to pay for private Vietnamese language lessons if you are eager to get to grips with the language from day one and make friends with the locals. You can also hire a bike or moped for a reasonable price for the month, meaning you can explore Ho Chi Minh City a lot faster – we do recommend you are careful though. Although you do not need a licence to drive a moped, you do need common sense!
We welcome applications from everyone who is interested in exploring a new culture. Have a read through the different elements of the program and decide if this country fits into your desire to have a change of life and teach English abroad.

– FEATURES & BENEFITS –
FULL TEFL CERTIFICATION
The TEFL course in Ho Chi Minh City consists of 4 weeks, and normally runs in the daytime, but can also lean into the evenings at times. Once you have passed the course, you will have a full TEFL certificate meaning you can teach English anywhere in the world.
ACCOMMODATION IS PROVIDED FOR THE 4 WEEKS OF TEFL TRAINING
Accommodation is complementary during the training period. After the course, most employers will assist you in finding accommodation near to the place of work. Accommodation is normally not included when offered a teaching job in Vietnam, but it is not too expensive at around 165– 200 GBP per month for a single room apartment. You can save money if you opt to live with other teachers, if it is available.
A GUARANTEED PAID JOB TEACHING ENGLISH
Our team in Ho Chi Minh City will assist you in getting the right job. The job guarantee is exactly that – we guarantee that you will get a job. We will show you where to look for jobs and have links with many agencies and language schools in Vietnam. It’s common for people to secure a job between 0-30 days after the TEFL training. We make sure that through the Skype interview that you will be the right kind of person for teaching in Vietnam, so if you get through that stage you will have no worries. Commonly there are more jobs than teachers available!
Jobs pay around 20 USD per hour on average and are between 20 – 30 hrs per week. Universities, colleges and corporate jobs can pay more per hour and jobs in more rural areas pay a little less. Jobs are mostly available in language centres and are all year round, although there are some positions in primary and high schools. Language centres provide teaching to all ages, from primary classes to adults, and you can be required to teach any day of the week, but most jobs give two days off per week.
TRAIN WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE
There will be another 10 to 15 trainees on your course who are all in the same boat – they have come to Asia to train in TEFL and gain life experience by exploring another culture. In this environment it’s easy to make friends. You can play hard as you study hard in becoming the best teacher you can be.
Many people you meet in the first few weeks of training become friends for your lifetime of teaching in Vietnam and beyond.
LOW COST OF LIVING
You can normally save about half of your salary each month after paying living costs, which can mean savings of 500 – 1000 USD per month! This is one reason why many teachers decide Vietnam is for them – they get all the benefits of living in a new country and are able to save for their future as well.
Accommodation is generally 280 USD per month and some contracts come with accommodation included. You can eat in restaurants 3 times per day for the whole month and not spend more than 300 USD. In Vietnam you can spend without worrying that you will have no money to save.

One of South-East Asia’s fasting growing economies and an increasingly popular destination for backpackers and tourists of all kind – Vietnam is a country going places. Rich with beautiful landscapes, an incredible history, and boasting some of the most delicious food in the world – when visiting this wonderful country, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience.
Bordered by Cambodia, Laos and China, it’s clear to see why so many people visit and travel around this extraordinary part of the world – it really is a place like no other. Located in the Northern region, Vietnam’s capital city, Hanoi, is a thriving metropolis, acting as the country’s political base and second largest city. With a population of over 6 million, it’s largest city, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly named Saigon) is located in the South-Eastern region of the country and really is the cultural and economic hub of the country.
Vietnam’s climate is tropical and monsoonal, with annual temperatures varying between 5°C and 37°C. Depending on the region, the climate can change significantly, for example, there’s been times when there’s been snow in the mountainous in the north, while down on the beaches in the southern region, temperatures have reached highs of 32°C – so it’s important to take into account the region and the time of the year when planning your trip. Typically, the hot, rainy season runs from mid-May to mid-September and the warm, dry season runs from mid-October to mid-March.
Like many other Asian countries, the concept of face is extremely important to the Vietnamese – although somewhat difficult to explain, it can be described as a way of reflecting one’s reputation and dignity. Respect is very important.

THINGS TO DO
There’s certainly plenty to see and do here – whether it’s visiting the world famous Halong Bay, exploring deep inside Paradise Cave, learning about the country’s heritage in one of its war museums, discovering some of its breathtaking beauty in one of its National Parks, or travelling down the 3260km stretch of coastline, offering glistening sandy beaches, coves, lagoons, and tropical islands. Hike, bike or kayak your way round the country, experiencing big cities and small towns, sandy beaches and crystal clear lagoons, impossible boulder formations and incredible caves – Vietnam won’t disappoint.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Vietnam is the largest exporter of cashews in the world, and the second largest exporter of rice (after Thailand).
- It has the lowest unemployment rate among developing countries.
- A Vietnamese speciality of rice wine (Ruou ran) is made with a pickled snake inside – supposedly said to cure any sickness.
- Using a long bamboo fishing pole, hook and bait, locals go ‘lizard fishing’ in the foothills of mountainous regions of the south-central coast.
– TRAINING IN HO CHI MINH CITY –
Formerly named Saigon and still referred to that today by many locals, particularly in the French Quarter of the city, this bustling city is not only the centre of commerce and culture but also the country’s largest city – with a population of over 6 million. Ho Chi Minh City is divided into 24 districts, although tourists usually tend to only visit districts one, three and five.
You really won’t be short of things to do here – why not visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda, Ben Thanh Market, or see where villagers dug themselves out of American shelling at the Cu Chi Tunnels; try your hand at Vietnamese cuisine with a Saigon cooking class, or enjoy the simple pleasure of sitting at a roadside cafe or seat of a cyclo (a 3 wheeled bicycle-type taxi) and taking in the bustling flow of the city.
The city enjoys an average year round temperature of 26°C – 29°C, with the hottest months of the year being March, April and May. If the busy city lifestyle gets a bit too much for you – don’t worry! – paddy fields, beaches, and the wide-open countryside all lie just outside the city. It’s surprising how close the countryside is to a city so large!
